Subject: Thank you
Dear Aiman,
Thanks for your email. I certainly appreciate your letter. There are a number of countries that our Government is trying to make a difference for the many children who need help. Today is the last day for our matching dollar program to help with famine relief in Africa. Here are some of the details from my blog:
Earlier this summer, Minister Oda visited the Dadaab refugee camps in East Africa and announced that our Government will increase its financial support to East Africa by an additional $50M and establish the East Africa Drought Relief Fund to help the victims of the severe drought now affecting approximately 11 million people in East Africa. This is in addition to the $22.35 million provided by CIDA earlier this year for humanitarian assistance in the region.
As well, our Government has created a matching fund program for East Africa. For every dollar an individual Canadian donates over a 10-week period (retroactive to July 6, 2011, and ending September 16, 2011) to a registered Canadian charity responding to the drought in East Africa, the Government will contribute an equivalent amount to the East Africa Drought Relief Fund.
Here are four agencies that are working collaboratively with Canada, to make sure any assistance gets to the people who need them most as quickly as possible:
World Vision
CARE Canada
World Food Programme
Humanitarian Coalition
By helping with your donation today and coupled with the matching program-we can have a great and positive effect. I encourage anyone who can contribute to join in!
So far over 20 million more has been raised and we will soon find out what the final total will be. I mention this program, not so much to encourage you to donate, but to encourage you that both the Canadian Government but more importantly its citizens care for these children who are stuck in extremely tough circumstances and want to help.
I would encourage you to continue to stay involved and to help other people to become more aware that there are things that we can all do to help- both at home and away to make the world a better place.
Thank you for your email- I certainly appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts and concerns.
Sincerely,
Dan Albas MP

Subject : Help Them... Please!
Dear Stephen Harper,
First of all I would like to thank you for taking your time to read my email.
My name is Aiman Sohail and I am 12 years old. I was reading the news with my mom the other day and I saw the horrifying flood that happened in Pakistan, we saw pictures of young children (even babies) dying. So my mother decided to get some of her friends and we all money to those countries that really need it.
Though even I know that even if we try our hardest we won’t be able to help everyone, but at least we are saving some lives, as I learned when I was younger ' Even Saving 1 life or giving 1 penny makes a big difference'. I feel sorrow for countries like Africa, Pakistan, India and all those poor countries.
I would really appreciate it if you could do your best to help.
Please, take your time and think about all those poor innocent lives of people (and children) dying every single day, what do you think the innocent little babies deserve to do this? (nothing) So again I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my email.
P.S. I know you will try hard because Canada has never failed at helping Humanity.
That’s another reason I'm proud to be a Canadian Citizen.
Sincerely,
Aiman Sohail
